Board of Education Approves Summer Construction Projects
Posted on 12/13/2022

The District 39 Board of Education approved bids for facility improvements, including further air conditioning inside District 39 schools, at last night’s regular business meeting. Following this Board approval, D39 will proceed with construction projects at four buildings (Central Elementary, Harper Elementary, Highcrest Middle School, and Romona Elementary) during Summer 2023.

In addition to adding classroom air conditioning, these projects will also provide for air conditioning inside the auditoriums at both Central and Romona, as well as the small gymnasium at Central. Upon completion of this work, nearly 100% of District 39 classrooms will be equipped with air conditioning for the 2023-24 academic year, with only a portion of Wilmette Junior High School left to be upgraded. Those remaining WJHS classrooms are anticipated to be completed in 2025.

“I am extremely grateful to our Board for recognizing the need and supporting these projects,” said Dr. Kari Cremascoli, Superintendent. “We are always working to create the best possible environment for teaching and learning in order to best position our students for success. We believe that these projects allow us to strengthen health and safety within our schools to best support learning while maximizing our resources to assist our students, faculty, staff and the entire learning community. We are thrilled to be able to accomplish these important goals in alignment with our current Strategic Plan.”
