Village of Wilmette Launches "Wellmette: Mental Health Matters … You Matter"
Posted on 02/18/2025
Starting this February, Wilmette’s government agencies will launch Wellmette: Mental Health Matters...You Matter, a community-wide mental health awareness campaign running through May, which is National Mental Health Awareness Month. This initiative, spearheaded by local government agencies in collaboration with mental health service partners, aims to promote mental wellness, reduce stigma, and connect residents to vital resources.

“Here in Wilmette, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health,” said Village President Senta Plunkett. “The Wellmette mental health campaign is a reflection of our local governing bodies’ joint commitment to addressing critical issues that impact our community, just as we’ve done previously with the topic of sustainability. By bringing mental health into the spotlight, we aim to build a stronger, more compassionate Wilmette.”

The campaign will leverage multiple communication channels across village entities and community partners to spread its message. Wilmette-based Anne Kelly of A.S.K. Marketing Group has been enlisted to design and execute the initiative.

“We are honored to take on such an important project in our own community,” said Kelly. “The Wellmette campaign is designed to ensure mental health resources are not only available but visible and accessible. Through strategic outreach, we’ll work with Wilmette’s government agencies and mental health partners to spread this messaging and foster a culture of compassion and support.”

The campaign will feature a central information hub at www.wellmette.com, providing details on available local counseling services, mental health organizations and informational content.

Dr. Renee Dominguez, Family Service Center, expressed gratitude for the initiative:
“Mental health affects us all, and this campaign demonstrates Wilmette’s leadership in tackling the stigma and connecting people to resources. We are proud to partner in this important effort.”

Mental health is a shared responsibility. Through Wellmette, the community aims to redefine wellness, encouraging open conversations and ensuring no one feels isolation in their struggles.
