Jeffrey Batt and Robert Miller Selected as Grade Level Administrators at Wilmette Junior High School
Wilmette Public Schools District 39 is pleased to announce that Robert Miller and Jeffrey Batt have been selected to join Wilmette Junior High School’s administrative team as Grade Level Administrators. Miller will primarily work with the school’s 7th-grade students and faculty while Batt will support WJHS’ 8th-grade students and faculty, in addition to their other administrative duties. They were approved at tonight's Board of Education meeting.
Miller joins the District 39 family from west suburban Wheaton, where he has spent 10 years as a mathematics teacher, the last nine at Edison Middle School. Miller serves on Edison’s Instructional Leadership Team, which focuses on analyzing data towards reaching school improvement goals, and has collaborated with district-level administration and colleagues on selecting and implementing a new mathematics curriculum. Miller brings educational leadership skills and an ability to mentor students to his new role.
“I am incredibly excited to be joining Wilmette Junior High’s team,” said Miller. “I would like to thank all members of the interview panels, and I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the hiring process. I cannot wait to begin to build relationships with the students, staff, and community and continue to cultivate a culture of excellence at WJHS.”
“The interview teams were really impressed with Robert's positive energy and the passion he brings to middle school instruction, math in particular,” said Kate Dominique, WJHS Principal. “We are excited about the leadership and collaboration that he will bring to working with both adults and students, and his experience working with middle school students will help in his transition from teaching to assistant principalship.”
Batt moves to District 39 after nine years at Lane Tech College Prep in Chicago. He spent his tenure at the Northside selective enrollment school teaching chemistry and serving as chemistry lead teacher for five years, before moving into an supervisory position as Lane Tech’s Science Department Chair. In that role, Jeff oversaw a 40-person department, leading and coaching classroom teachers, discussing strategies to engage students in inquiry-driven instruction, and facilitating cross-curricular discussions to help develop a more integrative curriculum.
“I am extremely honored and excited to join the District 39 community!” said Batt. “As a Grade Level Administrator at WJHS, I look forward to supporting the success of students and ensuring a sense of belonging for every community member.”
“Jeff's commitment to student learning came through in his interviews as he shared about content leadership during his time at Lane Tech,” continued Dominique. “He has experience working with a variety of people and students in grades 7-12, which helps him understand the trajectory for our students as they move from junior high to high school. I am extremely excited to welcome both Robert and Jeff to our WJHS and D39 administrative teams!”
