GUEST WI-FI TERMS OF SERVICE

The District offers this guest Wi-Fi wireless Internet service (“Wi-Fi Service”) according to this Guest Wi-Fi Terms of Service (“Terms”) as a free service to its visitors for the duration of their visits. All users of this Wi-Fi Service must agree to these Terms by clicking the ACCEPT button.

NOTE: Students and staff using this Guest Wi-Fi should refer to Board Policy 6:235 and its Administrative Procedures, Student/Employee Handbooks, and Network Use Authorizations for additional terms applicable to their use of District electronic networks.

Terms and Conditions

Privileges - Use of the District’s electronic networks, including the Wi-Fi Service, is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use may result in a cancellation of those privileges and/or appropriate legal action.

Unacceptable Use - The user is responsible for their actions and activities involving the District electronic networks. Some examples of unacceptable uses are:

  1. Using the electronic networks for any illegal activity, including violation of copyright or other intellectual property rights or contracts, or transmitting any material in violation of any State or federal law;
  2. Using the electronic networks to engage in conduct prohibited by board policy, including Policy 8:30 Visitors to and Conduct on School Property;
  3. Hacking or attempting to hack or gain unauthorized access to files, accounts, resources, or entities by any means;
  4. Invading the privacy of individuals, including the unauthorized disclosure, dissemination, and use of information about anyone that is of a personal nature, such as a photograph or video;
  5. Using another user’s account or password;
  6. Creating or forwarding chain letters, spam, or other unsolicited messages;
  7. Accessing, sending, posting, publishing, or displaying any abusive, obscene, profane, sexual, threatening, harassing, illegal, or knowingly false material;
  8. Misrepresenting the user’s identity or the identity of others;
  9. Using the electronic networks while access privileges are suspended or revoked;
  10. Using the electronic networks in any way that would disrupt its use by other users or substantially degrade the performance of the network (e.g., running programs, or processes that may substantially degrade network performance or accessibility or connecting to "Peer to Peer" file sharing networks or downloading large files); and
  11. Attempting to circumvent or subvert system or network security measures; creating or running programs that are designed to identify security loopholes, to decrypt intentionally secured data, or to gain unauthorized access to any system; using any means to decode or otherwise obtain restricted passwords or access control information is prohibited.

No Warranties – Use of the Wi-Fi Service is at the user’s own risk. The District makes no warranties of any kind, whether expressed or implied, for the service it is providing. The District will not be responsible for any damages the user suffers. This includes, but is not limited to, issues related to speed or consistency, loss of data resulting from delays, non-deliveries, missed-deliveries, or service interruptions caused by any action or inaction of the District or the user’s errors or omissions. Use of any information obtained via the Internet is at the user’s own risk. The District makes no representations regarding confidentiality of any information shared through the Wi-Fi Service and specifically denies any responsibility for the accuracy or quality of information obtained through the Wi-Fi Service.

Indemnification - By using the District’s Wi-Fi Service, the user agrees to indemnify the District for any losses, costs, or damages, including reasonable attorney fees, incurred by the District relating to, or arising out of, any violation of these Terms by the user.

Charges - The District assumes no responsibility for any unauthorized charges or fees, including telephone charges, texting or data use charges, long-distance charges, per-minute surcharges, and/or equipment or line costs incurred by user.

Enforcement -The District reserves the right (but has no obligation) to remove, block, filter, or restrict by any other means any material that, in our sole discretion, may be illegal, may subject the District to liability, or may violate these Terms. The District may cooperate with legal authorities and/or third parties in the investigation of any suspected or alleged crime or civil wrong. Violations of Terms may result in the suspension or termination of access to the Wi-Fi Service or other resources, or other actions as detailed below.

Responsibilities of Wi-Fi Service Users - Users are responsible for ensuring they are running up-to-date anti-virus software on their wireless devices. Users must be aware that, as they connect their devices to the Internet through the Wi-Fi Service, they expose their devices to: viruses, denial-of-service attacks, intrusions, and other abuses by third-parties. Users understand that wireless Internet access is inherently not secure, and users should adopt appropriate security measures when using the Wi-Fi Service. Users are strongly discouraged from conducting confidential transactions (such as online banking, credit card transactions, etc.) over any wireless network, including this Wi-Fi Service. Users are responsible for the security of their own devices.

Limitations of Wireless Network Access - The District is not liable for any damage, undesired resource usage, or detrimental effects that may occur to a user's device and/or software while the user’s device is attached to the Wi-Fi Service. The user is responsible for any actions taken from their device, whether intentional or unintentional, that damage or otherwise affect other devices or users of the Wi-Fi Service. The user hereby releases the District from liability for any loss, damage, security infringement, or injury which the user may sustain as a result of being allowed access to the Wi-Fi Service. The user agrees to be solely responsible for any such loss, infringement, damage, or injury.

Lawful Use - The Wi-Fi Service may only be used for lawful purposes and in a manner which the District believe to be consistent with the rights of other users. Illegal acts may subject users to prosecution by local, state, federal, or international authorities. The District may bring legal action to enjoin violations of these Terms and/or to collect damages, if any, caused by violations.

Changes to Wi-Fi Service - The District reserves the right to change the Wi-Fi Service offered, the features of the Wi-Fi Service offered, the terms of these Terms, or its system, or to terminate user’s access, without notice to the user.

Agreement to Terms of Service- By clicking the ACCEPT button, the user agrees to comply with and to be legally bound by the terms of these Terms. If Terms are unacceptable or become unacceptable to the user, the user’s only right shall be to terminate their use of the Wi-Fi Service.

By clicking the ACCEPT button you acknowledge that you understand and agree to these Terms.
