District 39 Concludes "Read for Refugees" Project
Posted on 05/04/2022

Spearheaded by student councils and other student-led groups across all six schools, District 39 recently completed its "Read for Refugees" initiative. This project, which centered on helping those displaced during the Ukrainian crisis, continues D39’s rich tradition of giving back to those in need.

During the week of April 18, District 39 students read books and participated in other learning activities related to supporting refugees. Our students created posters to advertise the event students district-wide engaged in age- and developmentally-appropriate activities in the classroom.

As a means of support, District families were encouraged to donate directly to the Red Cross via a D39 fundraising page, with the donations going directly to assist Red Cross efforts in Ukraine. We are incredibly grateful to share that our learning community donated nearly $6,500!
