District Update – Oct. 17
Building Procedures Regarding Outside Visitors
As always, it is our duty and highest priority to maintain our schools as safe places for students, staff, and families. During the school day, our schools are generally not open to the public. We have designated specific areas as private and restricted during the school day (including areas beyond our controlled front foyers as well as our playgrounds), which is applied to all visitors to our schools. Our protocols for visitors and for granting entry to our schools apply to all guests and help us to maintain safety and security for all. Thank you for your partnership as we all work together to keep our learning community safe.
Parent Education Events
On Wednesday night, D39 hosted an outstanding Parent Education event titled “Generative Artificial Intelligence for Parents and Caregivers.” Thank you to everyone who joined us live.
A recording of last night’s presentation is now available online. Please bookmark this link as it will not be publicly available on our D39 Parent Education webpage.
Our next D39 Parent Education event, a presentation and meet-and-greet with acclaimed children’s book author Derrick Barnes, is set for
Tuesday, Nov. 4. This will be an in-person only event at 6:30 pm in the Romona Elementary School auditorium. No registration is required and children are welcome to attend.
District 39 is also proud to co-sponsor M
arc Brackett, Ph.D. for a Family Action Network Roundtable Workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 12-1:30 pm at the Glenview Public Library. The workshop will focus on Dr. Brackett’s most recent book “Dealing with Feeling: Use Your Emotions to Create the Life You Want,” a guide for regulating how we respond to our emotions to transform our life.
Registration is required for this in-person event and space is limited.
