Board of Education Meeting
The Board of Education gathered for its regular monthly business meeting this past Monday. The Board heard the annual Special Education Child Count report and approved transportation fees for the 2025-26 academic year in addition to hearing committee reports.

Additionally, the Board approved Claire Kreller as the next Assistant Principal at McKenzie. Ms. Kreller has spent the last 13 years as an educator in the city, the last two as the Senior Manager of Teacher Development at Distinctive Schools, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and accelerating the work of charter schools. In her role, she oversaw the implementation of the organization’s coaching model across nine charter school campuses, and provided strategic direction, professional development, and mentorship for educational leaders to ensure impactful instructional coaching and growth. She will begin her work at McKenzie on July 1.

At the conclusion of its regular meeting, the Board then held a reorganization meeting to recognize the contributions of outgoing members Jon Cesaretti, Bonnie Kim, and Lisa Schneider-Fabes and welcome Judy Berlin, Kristin de Castro, and Katie Hilton to the Board. In addition, Board Member Anne Hart was re-elected to serve for a second term on the Board of Education. Upon reorganization, the Board voted to appoint Anne Hart as Board President and Allyson Paflas as Vice President for the next two years.

Agendas and materials for Board of Education meetings are posted online the Friday prior to the meeting.
