Committee of the Whole Recap
This past Monday, the Board of Education gathered for its monthly Committee of the Whole meeting. At this meeting, the Board was presented with
results from our 2025-26 Comprehensive School Climate Inventory (CSCI) survey and
received a presentation on D39’s FY27 draft budget.
Board Meeting Preview
The Board of Education will hold its regular monthly business meeting on Monday, May 18 at 7 pm at the Mikaelian Education Center. Prior to the meeting, the Board will host a special recognition event at Wilmette Junior High School to recognize HMS and WJHS students for significant achievements in music (including band and choir), athletics, science (Science Olympiad), Latin (Certamen, National Latin Exam, National Mythology Exam, Exploratory Latin Exam), math (Math Olympiad and Math Counts), and writing (Daughters of the American Revolution essay competition).
During the regular meeting, the Board will hear committee reports, be presented with the Community Review Committee’s final report titled “Supporting Educator Well-Being,” receive the annual 2026-27 Student and Staff Planning report, and conduct a second and final reading of Board policy 8:30.

Parent Education
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us last weekend for our final D39 Parent Education event of the school year, a Let’s Play event at Romona Elementary. This wonderful event was held in partnership with The Alliance for Early Childhood, the Wilmette Public Library, BackYard Nature Center, Go Green Wilmette, Kids Science Labs, the Wilmette Park District, A. Perry Homes, and the Wilmette Police Department.
