| A brief history of this landmark: | The John Hancock Center was built by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in 1969. The building's plans were made in the 1960's. Ownership of the development changed hands during construction, which was finally completed in May 1968 at a cost of $100 million. |
| The importance of this landmark to Chicago is: | The John Hancock Center has both big and small office tenants. The John Hancock Center offers tenants first-class activities including on-site business services, parking, dining, and retail. |
| I think people should visit this landmark because: | It's the second tallest building in Chicago. Also people from all over pay money to view the beautiful architecture and skyline of Chicago from the Observatory. |
