Lincoln Park is
located along much of the northernmost edge of Chicago's
lakefront. It is used by many people every day since it has
so much to offer including ball fields, gardens, a
conservatory, the Lincoln Park Zoo, and
sculptures. We decided to
research the sculptures in the park so that when we visit,
we will know more about them. Many of the people who are
represented there are world famous. Some of the sculptures
are found within the zoo. They were fun to find. We hope
that knowing about the Lincoln Park sculptures will make
your visits there more interesting. The park land
originally was used as a cemetery. Much of it was sand
dunes. In the mid 1800's, the graves were moved and in 1865
the park was renamed for Abraham Lincoln. By the end of
1800s it was the largest park in Chicago and remains so
today. It is about 1200 acres. We would like to
thank the following people: Ms. Julia Bachrach, a planning
supervisor for the Chicago Park District, Mr. Bob Middaugh,
archivist for the park district, and Mr. Dan Winter of the
Lincoln Park Zoo. They were able to provide us with
information for our research. Abraham
