Principal

Greetings, and welcome to the HMS website,

I couldn’t be more proud to be the principal of Highcrest Middle School and a member of the Wilmette community. Wilmette is truly a wonderful place to work. It is an educator’s dream job: supportive parents, fascinating kids, and a top notch teaching staff, all combine to make this school terrific. As an educator, I have served communities in several roles. I have been a 5th and 6th grade classroom teacher, a junior high school dean of students, an assistant principal, and a principal. Every one of these amazing experiences has contributed to my educational philosophy and beliefs. In a nutshell, I believe that every child has a right to an excellent education and that kids truly learn when they have a connection to their teachers, their community, and their school. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, a master’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University, and a PhD from Loyola University Chicago. I have had the honor of serving this community for 6 years, and I look forward to the new professional challenges that this year brings. I am a firm believer in open and honest communication, so please feel free to contact me if needed.

6th Grade
Assistant Principal

I am thrilled to be the Sixth Grade Level Administrator at Highcrest. I started teaching in 2000 in a fifth grade classroom in Michigan. I came to Highcrest in 2002, and have since held the roles of sixth grade math/science teacher, sixth grade accelerated math teacher, fifth grade math enrichment teacher, and fifth & sixth grade learner qualities teacher. Through all of these roles, I have found that I love working with this age group of students. I have also found a home in Wilmette and truly love working here!

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Michigan in 2000. Go Blue! I then earned my Masters of Science in Advanced Education from Northwestern University in 2005, my National Board Certification in 2007, and my Administrative Type 75 Certification from DePaul in 2012.

I am looking forward to beginning my twelfth year in Wilmette and my second year as the Sixth Grade Level Administrator.  Please feel free to contact me at any time so that we can make sure that this is a successful year for all of our students.

5th Grade
Assistant Principal

I am excited to be a part of the Highcrest Middle School team as the 5th Grade Level Administrator (GLAD)! I look forward to working with the amazing staff, students and parents at Highcrest to ensure our students have a successful 5th grade experience.

A native of the northwest suburbs of Chicago, I attended Loyola University Chicago, where I earned my BA in English. I decided to return to school to earn my Master of Arts in Teaching degree from National Louis University. I worked in the Chicago Public Schools from 2001-2005 as a 5th grade classroom teacher, 6th grade social studies teacher, and a reading support teacher before joining the District 39 family for the 2005-2006 school year. In 2010 I earned my Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Concordia University.

From 2005-2011, I was a member of the Central team, first as a 4th grade teacher, then as the differentiation support teacher. During my time in Wilmette, I have served on several district-wide committees, including the Science Committee and Writing Committee, and I co-chaired the Progress Reporting Committee. I have served on Centralʼs Intervention Team, first as a member, then as a co-leader, and was an active member of Centralʼs School Improvement Team as well.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and trying to keep up with my own children, ages 6 and 8! My favorite pastimes include traveling, enjoying outdoor activities, attending Bears games, reading, and cooking.

I am excited to begin a new year as a HMS Hawk, and look forward to a successful and rewarding school year for our students!
