The Wilmette Village-Wide Parent Teacher Organization is designed to promote the welfare of children and youth in the home and community and to bring the home and school into a closer relationship so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the training of children.
The Village-Wide PTO is made up of eight local associations (six public schools and two parochial schools), each of which is represented on the Village-Wide PTO Board. The Village-Wide Board promotes effective communication among the eight associations. It works closely with the Superintendent, the staff and the Board of Education. The PTO sponsors student enrichment programs and parent/child education activities for all WPS39 schools in addition to various fund raising projects. PTA/O groups in each school distribute school newsletters, participate in community service projects, keep updated on District activities by attending school board meetings, and support the schools in a variety of ways through volunteer services. Parents are encouraged to join the PTA/O, to attend school meetings, and to participate actively in the work of the association.
