Dear Families,
Welcome to the 2012-13 school year! We are all looking forward to another rewarding and exciting school year at Central Elementary. Whether your family is new to Central School or your children are returning to us after the summer, we look forward to developing a strong home-school relationship. Our talented staff and devoted PTA will work together to address your children’s social, emotional, and academic needs.
I encourage you to refer frequently to our school and PTA websites this year for important information, and hope you will find that accessing all of your school information is only a click away. In fact, we aggregated all our information this year under one heading titled, Fall 2012 Information. Moreover, all of our teachers have either updated their websites or included a “Welcome Back Letter,” so you can easily learn more about your child’s teacher and his/her classroom.
Our school goals for this coming year will be based on the district’s strategic plan, CONNECTED. This includes the implementation of the Second Step Program in all of the classrooms. Second Step focuses on social-emotional learning. You can learn more as parents by visiting the website at: www.secondstep.org. Other highlights this year include a focus on the Common Core Standards, Characteristics of Successful Learners, and a second year of implementing the new science curriculum. I am also a member of the district Social Studies Committee. We are in our second year reviewing the current curriculum and revising it to align with 21st Century learning and expectations.
I continue to be impressed with the quality and extent of parental involvement at Central. Central Elementary School is dedicated to creating a climate that meets the needs of each child and ensures each student becomes an enthusiastic and successful life-long learner. I hope you are energized for another fabulous year of fun and achievement for our students and our community. Your contributions to your child’s education at home and at school are sincerely valued and greatly appreciated.
I am always connected by phone and email about school happenings, and I will be happy to respond to your email queries. My door is always open so please stop by whenever you get a chance.
Warmest Regards Always,
Becky
