(Wilmette, IL) The District 39 community is sad to note the passing of Louise E. McKenzie. Ms. McKenzie worked in District 39 for 43 years. She was the much-loved principal of Logan Elementary, re-named McKenzie Elementary School in her honor upon her retirement in 1978.
“Although I never knew her, it is clear Louise McKenzie left her stamp on this District. Former students always speak of her positive impact on their lives,” said Ray Lechner, District 39 superintendent. “Her contributions to our schools, students and community are now an integral part of District 39; her legacy lives on at McKenzie School.”
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 22nd, at 10 a.m., at Winnetka Congregational Church, 725 Pine Street in Winnetka, IL. In lieu of flowers, the McKenzie family has requested that donations be made to the District 39 Educational Foundation - www.d39foundation.org/d39foundation/index.html.
