From the Principal’s Desk
It is a common annual phenomenon in junior high schools around the country that when the mercury begins to rise, so do hemlines. To address this issue each spring, we hold an expectations assembly with the students to ensure that the kids remain focused on learning. When I talk with the kids, I refrain from giving them hard and fast rules around dress, because I want them to still have the freedom to express themselves. I explain to the kids that we would like their dress to be tasteful. We talk about what tasteful means and that fact that they communicate respect for themselves by the clothes they choose in the morning.
As the weather begins to turn warmer, please help guide your child to make good decisions when dressing for school.
Thanks, and have a great weekend,

Join us at the next FAN Lecture: Protecting Student Athletes: Concussions, ACL Tears, Overuse Injuries and More - Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 7:00 PM - Central School, Misner Auditorium, 620 Greenwood Ave., Glencoe.
Come hear a panel of sports medicine and conditioning experts discuss youth injuries and their treatment and prevention. Playing longer, harder, faster, and for higher stakes has led to a growing number of sports-related injuries among children and teens. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that more than 40% of high school athletes return to play before fully recovering from a concussion. Each year in the U.S., tens of thousands of high school girls suffer a serious sports-related knee injury, and thousands more suffer stress fractures and shin splints.
