Four Elementary Schools Named Apple Distinguished Schools for 2023-26

District 39 is thrilled to announce that all four of its elementary schools (Central, Harper, McKenzie, and Romona) have been recognized as Apple Distinguished Schools for 2023-26. Today’s announcement comes on the heels of Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School earning the recognition last year, meaning all six District 39 schools are now Apple Distinguished Schools.

District 39 Board of Education Approves Five-Year Contract
10/02/2023
The District 39 Board of Education unanimously approved a five-year contract with the Wilmette Education Association (WEA) this evening at a special meeting. This marks the first time since 2016 that the full WEA contract was reviewed, as only financial issues were addressed in the last two negotiations of 2019 and 2021. This evening’s Board approval follows ratification of the agreement by the WEA, which represents 350 teachers within the district, on Friday, Sept. 22.

Romona Elementary Earns National Blue Ribbon Schools Honor

Romona Elementary School has been named a National Blue Ribbon School, as announced today by the U.S. Department of Education and Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona. This significant achievement marks the third time that Romona has earned the National Blue Ribbon Schools distinction (2006, 2017).

District 39 Earns Aaa Rating From Moody's Investors Service

Wilmette District 39 has been awarded the highest possible rating, an Aaa, from Moody’s Investors Service. The Aaa bond rating for General Obligation Limited Tax School Bonds (GOLT) is at the top of Moody’s rating scale and is reflective of the District’s commitment to financial responsibility, stability, and long-term planning.

Board of Education Approves Summer Construction Projects
12/13/2022
The District 39 Board of Education approved bids for facility improvements, including further air conditioning inside District 39 schools, at last night’s regular business meeting. Following this Board approval, D39 will proceed with construction projects at four buildings (Central Elementary, Harper Elementary, Highcrest Middle School, and Romona Elementary) during Summer 2023.
