  • Announcements from the Superintendent:
    • Generous donations from HMS and WJHS PTOs of $7,500 for the Science Fund were acknowledged.
    • Dr. Palzet highlighted several WJHS and HMS student achievements.
      • WJHS students wrote the top eight poems in the statewide Manningham Poetry Contest. Two students advanced to nationals with and one became the national champion.
      • The top three winners in the Wilmette Optimist Creative Writing Contest were WJHS students.
      • A WJHS student made it to the semi-finals of the Letters About Literature contest.
      • The HMS Chess team placed 8th in the national championship.
    • Reflections, the annual staff recognition event was held this month.
  • FOIA request received this month was reviewed.
  • WJHS science teachers shared their experiences in the new science labs.
  • Mrs. Horowitz, along with D39 teachers and curriculum coordinators, presented the report on theRevised Math Curriculum. This was a follow up to the report at the April Board meeting.
  • Ms. Buscemi presented the Fiscal Year 2015 District 39 Tentative Budget. This must be approved for public display at least thirty days prior to a budget hearing and formal adoption.
  • Ms. Buscemi presented the Fiscal Year 2015 WCSEA Tentative Budget. District 39 continues to serve as the fiscal agent on behalf of the WCSEA, which is a partnership between Wilmette Public School District 39 and Avoca School District 37.
  • Dr. Lechner presented the Support Staff Union Memorandum of Understanding. This adds clarification to the SSU contract and informs staff that the calendar is not finalized until after the May Board meeting.

  • Approved the Personnel Report dated May 19, 2014.
  • Adopted the FY15 District 39 Tentative Budget and Approved a Public Budget Hearing.
  • Adopted the FY15 WCSEA Tentative Budget and Approved a Public Budget Hearing.
  • Approved the Superintendent’s 2014-2019 Contractual Salary with Aggregate Increases Indexed to the CPI.
  • Approved the Support Staff Union Memorandum of Understanding.
