Our Famous Women Study 2007
Welcome to our Famous Women's Study. Over a period of 10 days 34 fourth grade girls met every day for lunch and learned about how women have been changing the world throughout our history. We were introduced to ideas and women new to us and had fun at the same time!

Thirty-plus girls gathered every day for almost two weeks in the month of April in the Learning Media Center. They all had a curiosity about their heritage as a future woman in America. When asked why they'd give up their lunch time, here's what some of them said:

I like finding out about everything women can do. This seems like a great way to find out about what women have done. a.g. I think it's interesting how women have made a big difference in the world. c.q.
Women are important in everyone's lives. a.a.
I think it would be cool to learn about famous women and how they helped the world. I might be inspired by some of them. a.f.
I've heard so many ideas in history about men as heroes, I would like to learn about women as heroes. d.n. Learning about someone who has a different perspective onlife or who went through hard things could be very interesting. a.f.
I think there are not very many women that children know about who would be good role models for us. e.j.
I'd love to learn about famous women in our country and what they did to improve things we have today. f.s.
I am going to be a woman someday and I would like to know about how history can help me. c.m.
People are always tallking about how men made history. But women do just as many cool things. I would like to learn more about them. r.l. I think it is fun to research and learn more about people like Eleanor Roosevelt. Mrs. Roosevelt was Hilary Cllinton's hero. b.k.
I like to learn about new people that I never heard about and I just think it will be fun. g.s.
