When your children see math used in fun and everyday ways at home they can begin to learn how math is all around us. Here are some fun math activities to do with your kindergartener! |
Number Squeeze Game
Looking at a calendar,
one person chooses a secret number. Others try to
guess the number. The chooser guides them to the number
by asnwering, "No,
it's less than that, or it's greater than that". The guesser
can also ask questions such as "Is it bigger than
10?"

Eating Your Estimation Prior to the meal, each diner
estimates how many bites his/her dinner will take to consume. Using
a small pad of paper, each diner keeps track of his/her bites with
tally marks. The person who is closest with their estimation can
be rewarded in many ways.

| Counting
All Around
As you are waiting for a train to pass, the light to change, count. Count by ones, tens, fives, twos. Kids love to do that! When the light changes or the train passes by, stop counting and then think of another reason to count the time by. |
