educators over the last twelve years. These experts have come to Wilmette for training or our DST team has been sent to learn from them at national conferences. Many of the books listed here are used for training in our district. |

Diane Heacox - assistant professor of education at the St. Catherine's University
in St. Paul, MN. She teaches courses in educational methodology in both graduate
and undergraduate programs. The author of Making Differentiation a Habit and Up From Underachievement and Differentiating
Instruction in the Regular Classroom, she has
become a national expert in differentiated instruction and has an extensive background in gifted education services. |

Carol
Ann Tomlinson - Dr.
Carol Ann Tomlinson is Program Coordinator for the Educational
Psychology/Gifted Education progam area at Curry's Institute on Academic Diversty at UVA. She
teaches Educational Leadership, Foundations, and Policy
and in Curriculum and Instruction. Carol’s books on differentiation have been translated into eleven languages. Her goal is to develop more responsive heterogeneous classrooms. Prior to coming
to Curry in 1990, Carol was a public school teacher for 21
years, including high school, preschool, and middle school. She is the author of over 16 books,How
to Differentiate Instruction in Mixed-Ability Classrooms and Fulfilling the Promise of the Differentiated Classroom are just 2 of educators' favorites and her
most well-known being The Differentiated Classroom as well as the collaboration with Jay McTighe offering us Integrating
Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design. |

Rick
Wormeli - A Nationally
Board Certified teacher, Rick was selected as Disney's 1996
Outstanding English Teacher of the Nation. He
is a nationally known speaker on middle-level education, innovation,
and teacher professionalism. He has presented at the White
House, has appeared on ABC's Good Morning America, is a columnist
for NMSA's Middle Ground Magazine and recently authored his
new book, Fair Isn't Always Equal. His other books have inspired middle school educators: Meet Me in the Middle: Becoming an Accomplished
Middle Level Educator and Day One and Beyond. |

Winebrenner - A full time consultant in the area of educational research, Susan frequently works with school districts to connect research with practice. She is the author
of Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom, and

Morreale -
Past executive director of Illinois Association of Gifted Children,
and director of Quest program in the Lake Forest, Illinois
schools, and graduate instructor for the Center For Talent
Development and IAGC at Northwestern University, Dr. Morreale was a frequent speaker
for gifted advocacy. |

Curry -
Associate Professor and Coordinator of Special Education, University
of Southern Maine and co-author of the Curry Samara Curriculum
Project, Jim was an education consultant for our schools in the early stages of our model (see history). He continues to consult with other school districts (Glencoe project) and the IAGC. |

Deborah
Burns - is
a K-8 Curriculum Coordinator, Cheshire Public Schools in Connecticut.
She is the program director of the Three Summers Graduate Program
for masters and sixth year students and is a Board Member of
the National Association for Gifted Children.Ms. Burns will
be sharing her experience and expertise during our upcoming

Walker -
Present executive director of IAGC,
graduate instructor for Northern Illinois Educational Services.
Sally is the author of the Survival Guide for Parents of
Gifted Kids (Free Spirit Publishing), which has won two
national awards. She has co-authored Teaching Young
Gifted Children in the Regular Classroom and Making Memories, A Parent Portfolio (Pieces of Learning). |
